Reznor's Mercer Teacher Reflects on His Beginnings →
“How well rounded he was, in terms of wanting to write music and play the piano, play his tenor saxophone, said Dr. Hendley Hoge, principal at Mercer. “He was actively involved in the musical activities here. He was in the marching band and he was in the jazz ensembles, and the concert band. When he was in high school, he was in the school musicals.”
Reznor made his name as the lead singer for the Grammy award winning rock group, Nine Inch Nails. Hoge was his music teacher for six years at Mercer.
“As a music teacher, I fell like, maybe I was one of the individuals that might have planted a seed in Trent,” added Hoge. “But a lot of it was just on his own. He had a wonderful upbringing.”
